Jimmy López Composer

Jimmy López is one of the most renowned Peruvian composers of his generation. He recently obtained his Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy and is currently studying for a PhD at the University of California at Berkeley. He has won several international awards and his works are regularly performed both at home and abroad. He has received a number of commissions and is co-founder of www.kohoBeat.com, a non-profit music organization based in Finland.

Engagements for the year 2008 have included performances during Tampere Biennale (Finland) as well as several projects in cooperation with Conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya, among them the world premiere of "Fiesta!" (full orchestra version) on May 30th, 2008 with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He has recently won the KRANICHSTEINER MUSIKPREIS at the '2008 Darmstadt International Course for Contemporary Music' (Germany), a 2008 NICOLA DE LORENZO PRIZE (University of California at Berkeley) and a 2008 MORTON GOULD YOUNG COMPOSER AWARD.
